In sharing this message with you, I would like to tell you something about my philosophy of engineering here in Ontario, the very core of a great association that has given me the opportunity to excel over the last decade. My core mission is to provide engineers with an association of lasting quality and appreciating value. To deliver quality and value as an engineer I believe it is imperative for the president, council and the committees to anticipate change and then prepare for it. |
Our association has the ability to learn and to translate that knowledge into action – I believe it is the president’s job to initiate and take action, action that should help our members achieve a competitive advantage in business and in employment. |
We can’t do it alone and in isolation, we must develop strategic partnerships and innovative financial solutions to help us execute our tasks successfully and expeditiously. Our council must have the willingness to visibly change, because change is our show of strength which is needed to add prestige and image to our profession. That is why I frequently search out information to update my knowledge of what is the next best thing as well as affiliate myself with the people that can effect change. It is my experience that those who do not adapt to address the future effectively are doomed to be considered mediocre. |
I believe that these are particularly exciting and challenging times in helping to develop and advance the quality of our association. There is a compelling need for us to conserve on our quality and protect our senior engineers as never before. In all avenues, I am relying on more qualified senior volunteer engineers to deliver cost effective solutions to the profession. We have mass demands in the central regions that if not handled properly could reduce our overall quality levels which we have built over the years. |
I am inspired by the great past presidents and influenced by their founding standards and quality that built this great association. It is my hope that PEO can help all engineers to live in luxury and experience a little of that old world charm while our profession appreciates in value to government and the public. |
The association was established to engage the highest caliber of engineering to protect the public from ourselves. Statistics Canada reports that Ontario Engineering firms contribute $4 billion in operating revenues and this does not account for professional engineers not directly involved in consulting services. We are a formidable force both in numbers and economic terms. |
Over the past years the association has acquired several engineers in the central regions, some with bare technical qualifications. PEO insists on not only engineering qualifications; but the most ethical and law abiding engineers to entrust them with the licence to protect the public. |
Sudden growth in the Greater Toronto area coupled with other political and socioeconomic factors resulted in an oversupply of engineers with technical skills and a shortage of engineers with business knowledge, good communications and project management skills. This has impacted on PEO’s cost of performing its duties as well as our strategic planning for our future success. We currently need strong effective leadership which will quickly create good political relationships to help us increase the demand for our professional engineers as well as training our new engineers to meet our established high quality and standards. |
If you agree with my message, then voting for me will help us move forward in implementing a solution to your satisfaction.Thanking you for your support. |
